About Blue Ridge Rock Festival

Founded in 2017 by a handful of rock fans, Blue Ridge Rock Festival was created to bring major rock names to a community of passionate, but starved rock and metal fans in small town Virginia. In an increasingly corporate rock landscape, Blue Ridge Rock Festival is known as “The Festival Created By The Fans”, due to uniquely placing the fan at the controls of the Festival. There is no greater representation of this fact than the record 2.5 million votes on social media that fans have cast towards booking the 2023 Artist Lineup. Blue Ridge has not only become a force in the Rock Festival landscape globally but has been recognized as one of the largest non-corporate owned music festivals in America. Tickets for 2023 have already been sold in all fifty states, and more than two dozen countries.

Blue Ridge Rock Festival Returns to VIRginia International Raceway
for Second Consecutive Year

The Music Festival and Racetrack Have Entered into a Multi-Year Agreement for VIR to Serve as Host Venue

Alton, Va. – April 6, 2023 – Blue Ridge Rock Festival (BRRF) is excited to announce it will return to VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) for a second consecutive year and for numerous years to come.  The wildly popular rock and metal music festival will head back to VIR Sept. 7-10 after a successful first showing at the venue in 2022. Music fans can look forward to future festivals at the racetrack as the two have partnered for a multi-year agreement for VIR to serve as BRRF’s home.

The announcement comes after a 91 percent approval rating from 2022 attendees of VIR as the venue. Given that it was not only the first time the festival had been held at VIR, but the first time VIR had ever held a music festival, receiving this high of feedback sets the stage for fan expectations to be exceeded moving forward.

“Our inaugural partnership with VIR in 2022 was a great success and one we knew we wanted to continue. Being able to hold the festival at the same location for several years is a huge advantage for BRRF and its fans,” said a festival spokesperson. “In the past we’ve consistently outgrown our host venues, which has caused us to have to start over each year from scratch. Partnering with VIR for the foreseeable future allows all parties involved to create improved systems and invest in infrastructure, creating the best possible fan experience.”

“Bringing a variety of offerings and events to VIR has always been a priority of ours,” said Connie Nyholm, co-owner and CEO of VIR. “The partnership with BRRF makes perfect sense – we’re two independent, Virginia born-and-bred groups looking to provide outstanding entertainment for our fans.”

Acknowledging the recent increase in event ticket prices across the country, BRRF has taken several steps to make the festival more accessible than ever before. Despite the highly acclaimed lineup scheduled to play at this year’s festival, general ticket prices as well as tent camping prices have been reduced from last year’s rates. In addition, following fan feedback, BRRF has implemented a payment plan option available at no additional cost. There is currently a four-month payment plan available to fans and 77 percent of ticket buyers to-date have purchased via payment plan.

Sales for 2023 have moved at a record-pace, making Blue Ridge officially America’s Largest Rock & Camping Festival. BRRF has revealed over 100 artists performing at this year’s festival so far, but will release several headliners with the full lineup announcement soon. Tickets and campsites are still available now at blueridgerockfest.com.

About Blue Ridge Rock Festival

Founded in 2017 by a handful of Rock Fans, Blue Ridge Rock Festival was created to bring major rock names to a community of passionate, but starved Rock and Metal fans in small town Virginia. In an increasingly corporate Rock Landscape, Blue Ridge is known as “The Festival Created By The Fans”, due to uniquely placing the fan at the controls of the Festival. There is no greater representation of this fact than the record 2.1 million votes on social media that fans have cast towards booking the 2023 Artist Lineup. Evanescence, Asking Alexandria, Biohazard and More Added to Blue Ridge Rock Festival

Blue Ridge Rock Festival continues to stack the already surreal lineup with even more reunions, special sets, and the announcement of their third headliner: Evanescence, who will close out one of the main stages. This year marks the 20th anniversary of their debut album, “Fallen,” which became 1 of just 27 albums led by a female artist to ever be certified Diamond. Total sales for that album alone exceed 17 million. Evanescence will perform alongside previously announced headliners Pantera and Shinedown, with another five yet to be released.

In addition to hitting the stage with Pantera, the Festival welcomes Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society. Zakk will be on double duty, also serving as the axe-man for Pantera’s set. Recent announcements also include festival alum Asking Alexandria, the comedic metal outfit Psychostick, a long-awaited reunion of Brooklyn-based Biohazard, and unsigned talent search winner Eternal Frequency from Central PA. Delivering another unique opportunity to the fans, Max and Iggor Cavalera will bring Cavalera Conspiracy to the stage performing a special Sepultura set.

Shinedown Confirmed for Blue Ridge Rock Festival

Blue Ridge Rock Festival has confirmed Shinedown as one of eight headlining performances for the 2023 lineup following the prior announcement of Pantera. Shinedown returns after their electrifying headlining set in 2021, now celebrating continued success with their seventh album Planet Zero. Despite millions of records sold and copious awards and nominations, the band remains one of rock’s humblest and hardest-working groups out today.

Artists from across the musical spectrum continue to be added to this growing lineup, proudly hosting Megadeth and the post-hardcore memelords I Set My Friends on Fire. The last few weeks have also continued to add to the international flair, featuring Landmvrks (France), Caskets (UK), Paleface (Switzerland) and Holding Absence (Wales). True to their roots, after 30,000+ votes, Blue Ridge also delivered the congratulatory announcement for Heartsick, winner of the Unsigned Fan-Voted Talent Search.

With six headliners and over 75 bands yet to be announced, the Festival resumes announcements next week.

Blue Ridge Rock Fest wraps up the week with almost 50 artists announced to date. The Festival returns to Alton, Virginia from September 7-10, 2023, with a pre-party available to campers on September 6. Since announcing Pantera as one of their eight headliners last week, they’ve added some of the biggest names in rock including the return of Spiritbox and Motionless in White. Blue Ridge also welcomes Parkway Drive with a massive pyrotechnic performance and Attila‘s 10-year anniversary of their pivotal record “About That Life.”

Blue Ridge Rock Fest has historically been one of special performances and reunions with 2023 following closely. Stabbing Westward will make their debut next year, following their first new album in 22 years, and TRUSTcompany‘s original lineup will reunite for the first time in over a decade. Notably missing are the late Abbott brothers, Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell, both of whom had larger-than-life personalities that the band intends to celebrate and respect with this reunion. Pantera originally formed in the ’80s and quickly became one of the most influential bands in the metal scene.

Pantera is one of many reunions already announced for the Virginia-based Festival, following Flyleaf (featuring the return of Lacey Sturm), Coal Chamber, Taproot, and Woe, Is Me. The full lineup so far includes (in order of announcement):
